All of the top 5 have taxes therefore there's no true free market in existence.
How can a true free market exist when they force businesses and people to pay public taxes:sas2:

:sas1: Thats why i said they "come close"..Free markets are an ideal and with most ideals there will be a gap between theory and application..The ruling class must get their cut so since no country isnt run by a ruling elite (internal or external) there can be no complete freedom....

That said Hong kongs tax code is marvel of simplicity..so simple it can fit on one page and very transparent..

BTW Taxes arent necessarily the most anti free market aspect of an economy bruh..a voluntary short term tax for a big infrastructure project is something I personally would support..its when the taxes are used as incentives or for redistribution that they become oppressive

When was Walmart ever safe? That shyt is the Waffle House of retail stores with all types of heathens patronizing. All types of fukkery occur in that parking lot and in the food section at 2am. There was an incident back at this local Walmart where this dude murked his child's mom in the parking lot, in front of the child, and then shot himself. Luckily he did not die, was paralyzed, and is hopefully a human vending machine prison. Meth addicts making it hard to buy Sudafed without an id. Also in the country, everyone would drive to the local Walmart to fight and drink. I mean Costco is cheap and don't attract the type of ilk. :scust: Target all day.

basically, no society that is developed or safe can have a truly free market. and, of those that are edging closer to one, they must have small, homogeneous populations with no major need to provide for their own defense or their neighbors...

i think that leaves us with the possibility that the only truly free markets are black markets and failed states

:manny: I dont disagree with that assesment

The question then becomes why small homogenous groups can get much closer than larger more diverse ones.

Walmart is an example of corporate socialism gone wild..they get taxbreaks and subsidies to import the low pricepoint goods they sell..underpay their staff so they get subsidized by the welfare system and now socializing their security onto the local police.
This company wouldnt last 4 quarters without the govts help...but the liberals say all we need to solve this is more govt regulators

:sas2: And Hillary was the only woman on its board for 6 years...Odd how she doesn't list that on her resume
:ehh:

To be fair there is good regulation and bad regulation, just like there is good business and bad business. This security issue could be easily resolved by requiring public places of a certain size and traffic to have their own security. The necessary upgrades and staff would cost a measly $500M a year... their '15 operating income was $14B :francis:

The existence of bad government and regulation doesn't make good govt/regulation any less effective or necessary :yeshrug:

What you call "good regulation" is generally common sense..every business knows the importance of security to their bottom line and mandating them by size doesnt make sense..

They know their own needs better...than some Govt bureaucrat...theres a small liquor store in my hood that always pays off duty cops every weekend and holiday cos after a few robberies they figured its cheaper that way.
No need for more laws...Theres already by laws,Ordinances and mechanisms for counties and cities to bill businesses that overuse emergency services

Then what are these police departments complaining about?

I was halfway through this article talking with wifey last night. The way I see it, ain't covering Walmart part of the police duty? Like you said though Walmart is no stranger to leveraging the govt for more profit but I haven't finished the article yet. Usually Bloomberg is good with stuff like this so I'm hoping they tie it all together in the end.

And good regulation doesn't mean more laws. Replacing bad laws with good ones = no net increase in law :francis:

Because as bad as they want it the Police Chiefs themselves CANT collect the reimbursement..the City/County attorney has to do it..and usually Wal mart is a big political influence especially in the smaller towns...

The police have a duty to the public tho..not Wal mart..the officers getting tied up protecting wal marts assets are being pulled off other patrol duties..wal mart should be doing more to protect their own assets .

This is a failure of cronyism though, not regulation or law itself. A police dept w/o the support of its city is useless, Walmart or not.

Regarding the bolded.... why? Not saying one or the other, I'm just not seeing the reason Walmart has to do more. If the police depts. need more money to cover Walmart they should get Walmart to pay more. It seems like an easy sell- whoever has to levy the tax should sell it exactly as it is; Walmart not paying their fair share for services rendered :yeshrug:

I just saw this on Inside Edition:

Chaos at Walmart stores across the country has gotten so bad that the mayhem is spilling out into parking lots, and the number of calls to police has left many departments stretched thin. Last year in Jacksonville, Florida, there were 5,298 calls involving 15 Walmart stores. Since 2015, police in Chicopee, Massachusetts, have received 1,294 calls about alleged incidents at the town's only Walmart. In Westminster, Colorado, 2,140 calls were made regarding four Walmart stores.

Let third world countries produce that crap, i.e. clothes... It frees us (Americans) to work on real things.

And I agree, government regulations cant be uniformly applied across big business and small business.
