I tried to tell idiots this a long time ago. I was mocked and pebbles were thrown. Half this space exploration shyt is simply money laundering right out in the open, even worse than the military.

Logistically speaking MARS makes no sense. And realistically nobody thinks that far ahead, definitely not the European. If you cant even stop polluting the earth that sustains you because of what could happen. We should believe your going to create an entire other liveable planet on a "just in case"? Yall need to quit letting the European play in your face:respect:

I don't know about Mars per se, but I do know looking for a new planet to inhabit is almost non optional for our species.

We are treating this earth like crap...it's gonna go on forever. We need alternatives fast...and alternative = looking for new planets way more than fixing ours up (we suck at that).

Space expansion is necessary for humanity. It's not optional. We are a cancer that needs thousands of years and a lot of catastrophes to maybe evolve.

first things first we dont have the tech for interplanetary travel because too many white warmongers focused on war shyt on earth... :francis: they dont want to push themselves... so we have to just hope that they blow themselves up...and hopefully we hit that star trek future without them in it...

Man will rush to mars when he unveils a society hidden from human eyes. It shall seem accidental but isn’t. Those inspired will write and the public will bite.

Man discovered signals….

Neil is amazing! If I see his name I watch and listen but like he’s said before why even put all the time, energy, and money into Mars when we can use that to fix the earth? :yeshrug:

Also it’s a suicide mission.
Because the current levels of greed require "more", not fixing what you have. That's the currrent global path for pretty much all developed countries (at a corporate level).

Yep!

Everyone knows what poverty and its effect does to the people but rarely are we told what extreme amounts of wealth does because at their core a lot of wealthy individuals are insane.

NASA should take a page out of the CIA playbook and fabricate documents detailing how there's oil in Mars and we need to go there. Guaranteed the federal government will have Mars-bound spaceships by next week, even in spite of the government shutdown.

I doubt we'll ever get to that point. Keep in mind it's easier to colonize the ocean floor or put domes over Antarctica Than it is to go to a whole other planet and set up shop. Both options are even easier and cheaper than terraforming the moon.

To put this in perspective, You could glass the entire surface of the Earth with fusion bombs, And the remnants of the planet would still be more habitable and easier to get to than mars. Especially when you factor in that most of the underground is unused.

So unless one of these scientists at harvard creates a black hole that eats the entire planet, its highly doubtful that we will have to leave earth. Its more of an option , than a requirement. Even silly things like global warming or super viruses are a non-issue when compared to the hellscape that is mars or titan or io or god forbid venus. And no, You can give up on going to other solar systems cause that will never happen.

50/50 on this. Its speculated that mars may have been able to support life prior to Earth getting our moon. So this was a long azz time ago. You can see this from the riverbeds which are dry on the surface of Mars.

If this is true then fossil fuels, May legitimately be under the surface since they would be untouched and compacted over billions of years.

The Grand irony is by the time we actually do get to Mars we would have phased out all fossil fuels. Maybe we can find a few gold mines instead? :pachaha:
