Why were rappers so concerned with Y2K?

Cause everyone lost their minds for a year and believed shyt that normally only cults believe in.
It was something that the media blew way out of proportion. People were stocking up on canned goods, building bomb shelters, and were all of a sudden becoming more religious/spiritual because they thought 1/1/00 was going to be THE END. Of course artists were going to capitalize. To be fair, Busta's album was the third in the series of Apocalyptic album themes. I don't think he was talking about Y2K, but Hip Hop.
