why wouldn't star players take deals with player options this summer?

therefore they sign a nice long term deal this year, with a player option after one year, and get more next by opting out.

if they have a shytty year next year , then they don't opt out and continue collecting on the deal signed this summer ...

so the reality is most players won't do this.they rightfully should take the 4 year guarantee in that case
