Keeping my overhead low, and my understand high
From Why We're Polarized:

self-proclaimed independents were more stable in which party they supported than self-proclaimed strong partisans were from 1972 to 1976. I want to say that again: today’s independents vote more predictably for one party over the other than yesteryear’s partisans. That’s a remarkable fact
Basically... there's no such thing as an Independent

I recently became one but I'm still probably never gonna vote for a Republican

Pretty much. I've voted Democrat in every election I've ever voted in (and don't see this changing), but technically I'm an Independent since I'm not registered with the party. :yeshrug:

Elections basically just come down to which side has better turnout. Actual swing voters are pretty rare.
