Okay, so apparently my background check for a recent job that was offered to me pulled up a Warrant for a traffic ticket I had not paid off....in a different state 2 years ago.

Thing that's annoying is, I actually paid off the majority of the ticket, i was just in the middle of moving, and never took the drivers education course. Thing apparently turned into a warrant.

Well, does this mean I'm not going to get the job? The employers seem to like me, and I have direct line access to them. but I dunno. Or is this something that may get overlooked? it's a misdemeanor of course, but yeah. this is the only "criminal" activity I've ever had.

weird thing is, I've had plenty of background checks since then and this never came up.

If they really like you and want to hire you, they'll look past this as a minor indiscretion. You should pay the remaining balance of the ticket as soon as possible and handle any other business linked to it though.

Don't let a traffic ticket get you bagged.

I guess it depends on the job. My father works in the social work field and he had this job he interviewed for in the bag last week. Then the background check came up with speeding tickets from 2012 and 2013 and some party associated with the job refused to insure him so he got the boot.

lol...I thought it was nice way to not fall into his race joke, and distract him from going further with it. which worked.

but damn...holy detective?

weird thing is, I've even been pulled over since this warrant was issued, in the new state I live in of course, and nothing was brought up. Is there a limitation in jurisdiction or something?

should i contact the people I've been in direct contact with? I've been in direct communication with the VP and HR lead, like cell phone and email conversations. Or should i wait to see if they do anything?

they've given me a start date, and an I9 and offer letters have been signed already, for reference. but this was before the background info came to me.

Should try and hire a traffic attorney close to the courthouse in those states to see if you can get those warrants squashed. You dont need that on your record. Pay Spinklestein asap. At worst you pay a fine for your ticket but at least you dont have a damn warrant on your record.

Do you think i should contact the people I've spoken with though from the job itself? Tell them the story, I wasn't aware of it, and that it's being taken care of?

This warrant is for like $82.00 lol
