NBA legend Bernard King will be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2013, a source confirmed to ESPNNewYork.com.

The official announcement will be made on Monday as part of the Final Four in Atlanta.

The New York Post earlier reported that King will be inducted into the Hall.

"He deserves it," said New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony, who scored 41 points in Friday's win over the Bucks. "It's about time. He deserved it a long time ago."

With Anthony's performance, he joined King as the only Knicks to score 40-plus points in three consecutive games in franchise history. King, who had been nominated for the Hall of Fame six times, averaged 22.5 points in his 15-year career.

King, a four-time All-Star, spent four seasons in New York and averaged an NBA-best 32.9 points per game in 1984-85. He also played in New Jersey for three seasons, which is where he started and ended his career.

Among those joining King in the Class of 2013 will be Louisville coach Rick Pitino, former UNLV coach Jerry Tarkanian, nine-time NBA All-Star Gary Payton, former Houston coach Guy Lewis, and NBA and Olympic star Spencer Haywood, according to multiple reports.

Hall of Fame induction ceremonies will be held in September.
