Will BLACK people create another music genre? If so, it should be called BLACK music.

Black musicians were responsible for creating the most influential music in the world. We took the European sounds of the slave trade and made arguably the most important genra in music in the past 200 years, JAZZ. Then we took Jazz, folk, and country music and made BLUES, then ROCK n ROLL. Once all those genres were co-opted by the entire world, we made RHYTHM & BLUES. Jamaicans created SKA, ROCKSTEADY, REGGAE, DUB, and DANCEHALL. R&B evolved into DISCO. then when they took/destroyed disco and took away the music programs in the schools so the kids can learn to play an instrument, something that always meant a ticket out of the hood for blacks....we created HIP-HOP, literally from NOTHING! we had no instruments, so we just took the music we had, and use the TURN-TABLE as the instrument, followed by the Drum Machine. The left over Disco heads created TECHNO, then HOUSE with the help of drum machines and synthesizers. British Blacks then created JUNGLE and DUBSTEP.

All of these Genres have been Co-Opted by the Dominate society, and peoples around the world. When some one like Lord Jamar simply states FACTS, that RAP is BLACK MUSIC, We are told "Nah, it might have been created by blacks but that music is for everybody." Sure there is no doubt about it any one can love rap and hip-hop. But why does OUR music have to be inclusive?

:sas1:Jay Z could make the best country music album of the past century,

:sas2:You think he's gunna get the love he should at the ACM awards?

White kids from the burbs are the # 1 consumers (buyers) of black music.
this is probably the number one argument as to why music does not belong to a certain people, and it is a very strong argument.

What I'm talking about here is IDENTITY and not CONSUMERISM. Black Music has NEVER been about Consumerism until Record labels found out they could make a shyt ton of money. This is true of every genre of Black music. It catered to the blacks (and other ethnicity) in that particular circle. Hell we will use hip hop as an example. It began as a way to REPRESENT. REPRESENT your block, REPRESENT your crew, REPRESENT your Style.

we don't need a new genre we need to keep this one
I agree, I'm hoping that there is a White Wash of our culture, but most importantly that blacks recognize that their culture is being White Washed.

maybe we can go back to square one, and make something that is truly representative of us.

99% of musicians particularly rappers care about consumerism not identity, that day of Rap being used as a tool to voice the hardship of the ghetto are dead.

So what do you think will happen if another genre is created? :beli:

White people just gonna give up on appropriating and stealing it? :ld:

I doubt that another music artform will ever be created again in America due to cutbacks in music programs and black kids not going to church like that anymore.
