Serious question.

I can see it evolving, but I cant see it dying, especially not rap music. I think at this point its too big, too influential and theres so many ways to make hip hop music that it can possibly be around for hundreds of years.

People don't go platinum cuz of the net. Why would somebody buy an album full of filler when they can dl it in minutes?

Hip hop aint dying you just gotta cut thru alotta bullshyt to hear good music. Everybody and they mama wanna be a rapper these days and its watering down the genre

Its already dying. More high tech the beats get the more rappers are being phased out. Eventually we're gonna get to the point where its all just electronic music.

And hip hop as a culture is already dying too. White people/asians bit so much shyt off of us that certain stuff isn't considered hip hop anymore. Its just mainstream. And hip hop culture has bitten so much shyt from them in the past few years (namely clothing) that there really isn't that strong sense of identity anymore.

You can't look at a backpack rap fan, a skater, and a rave kid and tell the difference anymore. They all look the same.

Also black people aren't struggling as much. Living conditions are improving. Crime rates are dropping. And cuz technology is booming kids have other outlets to express themselves and make money. Its not just rap the way it used to be.


I give hip hop like another 30 years max before it becomes some new fangled sub-culture. And if you think about it hip hop has prolly had the best run of any popular subculture out there. I mean its been going strong for like 35 years. No other genre/subculture has dominated while staying true to its roots the way hip hop has. But all good things must come to an end.

Sales are down in every genre tho. Only hip hop has a mixtape scene where people can still eat. You even have singers making mixtapes
