In the Hollywood spot-light many films have come out in the last 40 years about people doing the right thing for Justice and whistle-blowers like "Serpico", "Erin Brockavich" , and "The Fifth Estate" but Hollywood also glamorizes it's relationship with the Government with films after 9/11 that depict it's version of history like "Zero Dark Thirty" and "Argo". Another film emerges called "Kill the Messenger" ....a film depicting Gary Webb's journalism and his book "Dark Alliance". Coli members should be familiar with Webb's book because it depicted the real dark spot in the war on drugs and the continuous destruction of the black community.
While it's portrayed in the trailer as bringing Webb's story to light, will Hollywood throw the subject of the the Gov't's involvement in the bushes and make Webb out to be a crack-pot and Rick Ross a drug dealer who was a snitch and a non-credible source? Will Hollywood add it's own version of what happened to the screen instead of Gary's?
