The problem these days is everyone wants to shine, no one wants to grind.

You've got to put that work in but how to do that when you've got to maintain a non stop stream of F'ery online to not get washed away from the fragmented attention spans of fans? On the flip if you keep churning out half cooked, weak and stepped on product they'll move on to someone else anyway because your wave will become stale.

The average time between albums used to be marked in years and artists would record and record then trim the final cut with the best of the best which was then honed and polished. Thats why modern grooves sound so disposable because they are. McMusic in full effect whereas the old school was like your grandmas cooking - It took a while to do but the end results spoke for themselves.
