Drake and Rick Ross have the most potential to the be next megastar.

Ross is only hit away :ohlawd:

He needs a smash hit plus a Hard Knock Life or Life After Death type album to propel him there.
Ross isn't going to be that either
Drake and Future imo

moreso drake

but if future go on a crazy run i can see him becoming the next star

Furture: :heh: yall really let your time on the Nets blind you to reality

People complained about the industry having too much power back in the day, but it's also that machine that was able to help these dudes build that megastar status. There's also a quality of music thing, a lot of cats have a very interchangable sound, hopping on whatever the new wave is. Overexposure is also a problem, too much social media, too many features, endorsements, blog reports, etc...all serves to remind fans how corny some of these people are or how unremarkable they are - the "he's just like me" syndrome.

I agree Drake could be there, but I think he'd need to distance himself a little bit more from YMCMB and just focus on doing him, stop giving them so much life.

Call me an old head or a hater, but no way is Drake at the Jay/Big/PAc/Em/Kanye/50 level (and I a 50 hater too). Superstardom is much more than numbers, he doesn't have that "larger-than-life" persona, I don't see him bringing something different to the table and he's doens't seem to be the "guy in charge".

EDIT: and to answer the question, I doubt it, mainly because it seems that these new cats, while talented, don't go through all that struggle far from the cameras that other went through: they're public personnas by the time they're 19, and I just have this feeling that you need some time to develop thru struggle and in anonymity in order to really "become" yourself, instead of becoming what "fits" the market. Seriously, how many original dudes do we have out there, where are the ODBs, the Bustas, the Redmans, hell even the Kanyes and shyt who have a very particular personna (love or hate it). In some way I feel it's like the NBA, kids are being pushed under the spotlight and their development is trumped, because they conform to that spotlight instead of having the spotlight adapt to them (which is what TRUE superstares do
i feel your point on too young, but at the same time, Pac, Big, and Snoop were all like 19/20 when they started on the circuit in a major way...

I would say Drake is more of a popstar tho, so put him in the lady gaga category. But as for as a rap megastar goes, nope i dont see there being one anyime soon really cant see anyone being up there with the likes of Eminem after MMLP and Eminem show. Could sell out any arena/stadium in the world and it would sell within minutes.

I knows its kind of cliche, but its like the superstar/all star debate in the NBA

There can only be a handful of superstars that even Non nba/rap fans can name
then theres the rest of the all stars and average players that regular fans know and are familiar with

if you go to a random person on the street and mention the names Jay-z, Eminem, Snoop
a majority of people will know who your talking about

If you say T.I., Ludacris, Drake, Wayne You may get a range of responses

Mention J. cole, Kendrick, Future, Asap Rocky, etc. you may get a bunch of blank looks

I believe other forms of media (TV, Movies, Commercials) play a huge part into this

Good point, well then it's just that they either had gone through more at that age or just had more artistic talent than some of these new cats...I mean these guys ahd their own voice/style, they were "defined" for lack of a better word, a lot of these new guys really sound alike (the voice/the beats)...and most just rap, while those three (and others) would flow

For Nikki, "Starships" and "Turn me on" are her recognizable smash hits... Both those tracks got regular spins on pop stations and probably got really high on the Top 40 charts..

As for Drake... "Find your Love" is his smash hit.

Breh I ain't gonna lie, the only one I had ever heard was "Starships"...I had a quick listen at the others...all three are trash techno/pop songs :russ:...two have David Guetta involved :scusthov:

No one can seriously put this on the level of A Let me Ride or even a Can I get A...unless when we say "Rap" Megastar we mean Pop Megastar
