Read this article this morning:

Young Black Democrats, Eager to Lead From the Left, Eye Runs in 2018

What is the right move for the black community: participate less in a system not designed to suit our interests, or dramatically increase political involvement? :jbhmm:

What is the platform of black politics? Should we re-align with Democrats, or reconsider the relationship we have? :jbhmm:

Is the black community ready to take up LGBT causes, or is that a distraction from our political goals? :jbhmm:

They have to be Black First. Don't toss us in the with the gays and others. Must speak to black issues first. Addressing our issues will fix alot of other problems. Race is everything. We also have to put real money behind a Black First candidate so they can get in and get results quick.

The problem is that black-first candidates are seemingly un-electable.

Black politicians usually have to water down their platform to make it more palatable to white voters. Unfortunately, whites are much more politically enaged than their black counterparts, and it's especially hard to engage young black voters.

Young black people should vote for their interests instead of being smart dumb about shyt and then being upset with the result afterward. Based on criminal justice reform alone, black people should want to vote.

How do we get young black people in the voting booths, tho? :jbhmm:

at at the local level it should be possible, but first we have to put our money together

It should. But we have to divorce ourselves from the corporatism of both parties in order to actually make a difference and juxtapose what Trump allegedly represents. If not we are no different. Just the same beer in a different bottle

there's nothing "alleged" about what trump's admin is doing to make life harder for black people. his tax proposals, scaling back law enforcement oversight, sentencing guidelines are all real ways trump will harm black americans. and that's just to name a few.

we can't get caught up in this utopic vision of waiting for the perfect black candidate in order to vote. or voting against our interest because the candidate that is the best stepping stone for our progress isn't perfect.

i hope trump will cause a resurgence in black political involvement. but judging by the replies in that thread about sessions there's a lot of black people that still don't get it. bought into the false narrative that everyone is the same, although trump is proving them very wrong.

Why are black folks still fukking with the Democrats? Is it not obvious yet that this is a party that doesn't give a shyt about you?

There will be no meaningful movement in black politics until this is understood. Stop fukking with establishment. We need to go as off the political grid as possible.

We need to get extreme and unafraid of the law. Urban areas need to form tenants unions and bust up greedy landlords. We need to take over abandon buildings and start that urban farming. We need to start our own currencies and fukk the US dollar. I'm talking all out, balls to the wall, "fukk you" to establishment politics and corporate association. A straight up renaissance. A straight up revolution.

Come one people. The dems have been fukking us for decades!!!!

There needs to be a nationalist party that represents our interests and takes political control of the areas where we comprise a majority.
Agreed for the most part, but centralization of that sort of thing rarely works and it's too easy to corrupt. Black folks need a hardcore mental awakening. Laws need to be broken.
