I remember exactly 10 years ago, there were rumblings on forums and heated discussions at barber shops & basketball courts about UFC taking over boxing soon....people were gassed off their nice PPV numbers and their budding superstars. I won't lie, I even bought into the hype for second.

But now, there is a MAJOR rejuvenation in the boxing world, we've got potential superstars in EVERY division, PBC is bringing in new money, and we're seeing a major resurgence in the heavyweight division with Femi & Big Bomber, and if the fight comes to fruition and he holds his own, Joseph Parker could even establish himself as a major player.

Me personally? I think boxing will stay on top because it's easier for casuals to keep up, top athletes will box before MMA because there's no money, and, let's be honest, boxing is a part of America's fabric:manny:

If Jones, conor and Ronda were still reigning it would be hard to say no, MMA just needs that one franchise player to carry the torch until more emerge. But after Jones self destruction, Ronda absconding it was up to McGregor to hold the fort until reinforcements but his greed lured him elsewhere.

With the current state the ufc is in, the lack of vision and passion the new owners have, nope.

But boxing isn't that healthy either yeah a couple of names has emerged in recent years but how many of these guys can do 800k and over as headliner

NAh. The only reason cacs support MMA was because its was a mostly cac sport. If it ever became more lucrative for young athletic black men to become MMA stars rather than boxing stars then young blacks would flock to the sport and overtake it. Then you would see the decline of cacs supporting it. Cacs would go to some other sport until black people eventually took that over too. U see when Ron De'Rousey got slept by the brazilian woman, none of them cacs started proclaiming the brazilian the best female athlete ever. As minorities take over, the cacs just start doing something else.

This, ultimately, is the 100% truth and I hope no one would try argue against it

MMA's busy is shaky as without their major draws (who are all white), their PPV numbers are all about the same. And those draws all have short runs before they become irrelevant. The black champions have been the most reliably dominant (Mouse, Jones, Silva, Cormier) and they've never been the big draws. The UFC goes through a boom period whenever someone that represents the ethnic majority of this country has a hot run, then falls back down to earth when they're exposed. If/When the UFC begins to reflect the color of all the other major sports across the world, their PPV history says their fans will leave.

Even though it's a boxing match, Connor getting embarrassed by Floyd may be the end of him.

Meanwhile people shout "BOXING IS DEAD!!!" while the sport continues bringing in ratings to HBO, Showtime, and huge viewing audiences to the fights aired on CBS. The PBC model of a slow transition away from PPV back to network tv has the industry eating well. Boxing's future is certain, UFC has a looooot of questions that will be asked about their model moving forward

I prefer that each stay in their own lane.

Watch both but like boxing more.

Don't care about eithers popularity, just keep the best fighting the best, both sports lacking on that.

How is different from boxing?? would Floyd have been the biggest draw if he maybe lost 2 fights??

I bought into that back in the day too, but the reality is that boxing has history and money on it's side.
