Will Your Parents be Ready for Retirement?

We're all mid 20s-mid 30s and even beyond that

And the reality is that our parents are getting older looking at retirement.

I know my mom is not ready so she's going to have to fall back on one of her kids (not me) to guide her through the post-working age.

I'm already in the process of cutting her off but I have this obligation deep within to help her and make her life comfortable.

I sat down with her and actually addressed this. The answers were what I expected so alongside my retirement account I'm going to build one independently for her.

My parents were lucky enough to give birth to a surgeon (my sister) so she's basically helping them pay off some $60k in school loans they took out for us. They'd be fukked otherwise.

Mines weren't . I was helping out but as South Florida cost of living started to get bad they just couldn't keep up and what my sister and I gave kept increasing which would fukk us in the long run.

Luckily they have properties in Haiti that they are moving to. My sis and I are wrapping them up by this month. Social Security should take care of them.

Dad get a good ass pension and social security each month...

Told me the house will be mines and the money he have in the bank will be mine

Both my parents will be. Mom is a teacher and can retire today if she wants. She’s getting a pension. My daddy the bread winner, and will be ready in a few years.

They house and cars paid off, they just making sure my bro and I good before they retire

Wastes money on stupid shyt
Pays her bills in pieces so they pile up. She will buy nonsense but put half on the light bill one time it was $1000 and I paid it so they wouldnt be in the dark. That was the last time. I moved our recently and paid the last bill despite not living there. The next bill comes and she's like well I'll put this much on it. I'm like nikka just pay the whole fukking thing!!

I put it on auto pay using her bank account and told her. She doesn't have a choice now

Oh and bad credit. I don't even think she cares tbh.

No way in hell she's ready for retirement and she turns 50 next year. She has a good heart though. I wish I could be 20% as nice as she is

I get both sad and annoyed. It's one thing when you see someone doing all they can to better their circumstances. It's another seeing someone who can do better destroy theirs

Any of you familiar with the Social security appeals process? I wanna help my mom demand more money. I dont feel what she's getting as much as she should from SS monthly income.
