Wire fans: Who would thrive more in 2020, Marlo or Stringer

On one hand you have stringer who is very well spoken, smart and Imposing. Unlike most the hustlers in this era stringer sees an end game. He is also very grimey and willing to kill whoever to get his way


On the other hand you have Marlo. Sociopath. No emotion. No empathy. Cares about his reputation more have he cares about actual money. We've seen him have a whole family, kids included killed over a rumor. Fearless dude. Feels that no person in the streets is too small or insignificant for him to step to or bring pain to.


So who do yall think would thrive more in the era of self snitchn, flossing, finessing crash dummies with no morals and no OGs

Multiple times he explicitly mentioned his name being known in the streets, including when they met up to discuss killing Lex in season 4
Dude had no known bodies for a whole season yet all of law enforcement knew him by name
Little kids and shyt knew everything about Marlo and what territory he controlled.
Meanwhile Stringer was setting up to move 100% behind the scenes. Lester Freeman and them was like in his downtown crib after he got killed cause they had no idea Stringer was set up like that despite having a wire tap on his for multiple seasons

At 1st I was like easily the answer is String...

But I'm thinking Post meeting Prop Joe Marlo would have been dangerous. Marlo wanted his name out there, but he was still careful. Bodies in the vacants, face to face meets only. Think about it, they only caught him due to illegal wire tapping.

Marlo doesnt get enough props for his street smarts.


String, without Avon would be food. String was built to be a #2. Avon had to get all kinds of help after Strung weaked the Org. Hell, Strings run would have been over right after he wanted to order a hit on someone who's power reached well above the streets.


It's like Avon said, not strong enuff for the streets and not smart enough for the business suits (paraphrasing).

Marlo wouldn't last half the time now. He could never see the bigger picture. Apart from killing people for bullshyt, he had nothing else going for him other than the drug game. Not to mention he burned all his bridges outside his team by being an a$$hole and raising prices just because he could, so he would either get killed or no one would simply fukk with him.

Stringer got burnt by Clay Davis but he would have used it as a learning experience and next time consult Levy before doing anything.

I know it was a TV show but did they give a reason for not just going thru marlo after he raised the prices? It's been years since I last watched it so i can't remember
