No point in putting out a console that doesn’t target the mass market audience. Waste of R&D and marketing

no one is buying a 1000 dollar console, especially if everything else goes up in price

Ehh. A lot of companies don’t actually like launching their games as launch titles. Marketing to small install bases makes it harder to turn a profit.

2028 isn't far off from the typical 7 year console life span. Plus a couple months ago Shuhei said he felt like 2028 would be the perfect time for a new console. I would not want a brand new PS6 to be released in 2027, that's far too early imo. We haven't even gotten 1 ND game yet for this gen.

I can see it because last gen software still sells even deep into this generation plus Covid stunted things early on so I can totally see them wanting to stretch this out for as long as possible.

Much easier to profit off software sales to the current install base instead of manufacturing and distributing a whole new console during a trade war

And just to put this out there, I don’t think waiting is going to change the pricing situation, truth be told we might be in a more fukked up situation around the end of this decade, consoles going to be the last thing anybody will be thinking about
