The profits on televisions are much higher. That's why Best Buy hides the projectors in the fukking corner of the store. If people knew that they could get a 10 foot 1080P image for $800 or even a 10 foot 720p image for $400 there wouldn't be a basement in America without one. Also lag is negligible for gaming. And 3D setups are 1000x better with a bigger image.

Look at this BenQ 1080P 3D for $760 on Amazon with a 4.7 rating with 270 reviews

You can buy a refurb for 670
W1070 1080P Home Theater DLP Projector (refurb)

So what is it?

Lamp Hours? Most LCD based projector bulbs will last you 3 years with heavy use (6 hours a day). And with LED projectors already out...bulb life will soon be negligible.

Do people not have light controlled rooms for them? They have projectors with Lumens high enough to project in the brightest of rooms.

I used to have a Optoma HD 20 and a Optoma ML500. Left both of them in the house I sold. I'm looking for a new one now.

Its my dream breh, but you need an optimal environment to truly enjoy it. When I buy a house, it's definitely on my list. I might wait for the more affordable laser LEDs so I don't have to deal with. bulbs

Wherever whores go.....
Because it doesn't make sense for most people. Especially if you have light coming in. Lol @ Turning down the lights every time you wanna watch tv

It's larger than most people want especially in major cities where most people don't have big room :usure:

Most people don't have a large dedicated room to handle the right environment for it. Your basement would have to be finished and meant as a home theater room for the most part since you need darkness space and its a pain in the ass to set up right because you have to get a screen and have professionals set up the wiring

so its just a difficult entry point for most novice people despite the bang for the buck...and if you have a big ass screen like that you also need a top notch 7.1 surround system and have it set up with curtains so that you can switch the screen from super wide screen for movies and just regular tv

Hence if people have a theater room its mostly for 2:35:1 content and just for movies because regular TV your going to get bars on the side so you need curtains

but check the AVS forums people go all out on there

I would get one if I have a house and have it professionally done. I'm pretty sure id log alog of sleep hours in it tho. But I'd love a huge screen to play battlefield or 2k on

Duuuuuvaaaaal!!
I plan on doing this for my next HT build. Just gotta figure out the best HD projector to pick up. I'll watch about 80% blurays, 20% gaming on it.
