Without a Dr. Dre affiliate who would be a big star today?

Ice Cube: Thing is that you could say this was more attributable to Eazy-E and NWA instead of solely Dre.
50 Cent: I think he needed the crossover cosign that Em and Dre provided to become who he is now. 50 Cent's antics wouldn't work without the machine
Snoop: Sure, but also his come up relied on those initial Dre features.... if he didn't have those, then Doggystyle wouldn't really exist in this fashion.
Eminem: Think he needed Dre as a cosign
Kendrick: TDE had the infrastructure already.

And I think this thread is what makes Dre greater than other producers. Dre sees the big picture. He has a vision beyond just the bars, and the song, but more so artist building. Under any other producer, Eminem is rappity rap over production that showcase his skills as a rapper. Dre took the goofiest part of a great sample and created a definitive song for Eminem. A song that stamped Eminem's name and planted a flag with "My Name Is...". I still think it's a goofy song, but I get it. It was perfect for Eminem. It doesn't work for anyone else. He did the same with Snoop.

50's buzz after he got shot was real, and he was already making great songs. I was in NY and we were stanning him way before he signed to Dre. He obviously wouldn't have been as big, but labels wanted him badly.

Eazy E is the real mastermind, though. Without him, we don't get Dre or Cube or Bone or Snoop etc. Following the branches that all came from that Ruthless tree is just :wow:

Snoop & Kendrick.

Em would be slightly above Rawkus rapper, respected, good but not a mega-superstar. He'd probably be Royce
50 would've been another mixtape rapper - pulling crazy antics and beefing with everyone that no one would've put up with without another powerful co-sign
