"I sat there for seven hours. There's no way I should be sitting in an emergency room.. an emergency room for seven hours," she said.

A couple of weeks later, a surprise came in her mailbox.

It was a bill from the hospital for nearly $700.

"I didn't get my vitals taken, nobody called my name. I wasn't seen at all," Davis said.

"So I called them and she said it's hospital protocol even if you're just walking in and you're not seen. When you type in your social, that's it. You're going to get charged regardless," she said.

She said she was told it was an emergency room visit fee or a facility fee as it is called in some cases.

This is where you would sue the hospital but the average person doesn’t have the funds for that so you just have to take the L.:francis:

Yea 7 hr wait times can be average, depending on the location of the hospital.
A few things.
  • Hospitals are understaffed due to low wages and nurses feeling a lack of respect through the pandemic
  • Low staffing spans across all of hospital departments even housekeepers.
  • I find it hard to believe she got billed without any interventions done. Most ER’s send labs as patients wait.
  • People use the ER’s like primary care, which overload the ER with unnecessary cases
  • I wish someone would do a documentary on the US health system and the ER, It’s stressful and I’m tired of it. I can’t wait to get the fukk out this field.

Allegedly the charge is for "room prep" when they know someone is waiting in the lobby.

Not sure thats true tho
