This is the main reason I couldn't stay in China as a black person, you will not be allowed to speak up for yourself, even to vent. The weight of knowing I could be gone in an instant for speaking my mind about what the government actually feels and does, would fill me with way too much paranoia.Move to a country where you get disappeared if you criticize the government brehettes

I lived in China and speak/read Chinese...and no, I wouldn't live there long term either. I like the people, culture, and food but the heydays of foreigners in China was 2000-2012 when you could get a good job at a Western company or be the "Western person" at a Chinese one for a good salary. All this has been localized so unless you want to be an English teacher or work for local wages, opportunities aren't there. Sure you can start a business with a local partner but the economy is not great (comparatively) there right now. These people who brag about how cheap they live don't always explain what they do for a living. You can live off savings for a while over there but why do that?
A big bellwether was in Guangzhou where the African district 'Little Africa' was around Xiao Bei Street. Was 100k Black folks there but between Xi's repression and encouragement of xenophobia and the economic slowdown, it has been hollowing out.
Also, you have zero rights, political, legal, or property. I always laughed at the people who were like they don't care it's a police state since they have nothing to hide. They been detaining foreign business people on random grounds lately. I'm not trying to get hemmed up somewhere where privacy and basic due process aren't the wave.
