The character is also loosely based on a Hindu god.

Most people tend to assume he was black because it is believed that the voice actor who played him in the 90s cartoon was black but that's not actually true.

Did you just say Apocalypse is black and then he isnt black? He had bigger lips, black type nostrils and head shape in the original cartoon. Thats why i believe he is black (which he is because the Ancient Egyptiabs were black).

I just gave some background on the origin of the character.
