It's a cultural thing in some cases... Spaniards/Latinos keep their maiden names to keep better track of lineage...
I would have a problem with this though also. All females aren't demanding to keep their last names, but times are changing and these women are getting bolder and are adamant about not taking dude's names... and even, in some cases, making the dude take her last name

Some women dont want to go through all of the hassle it takes to change their name on all of their documentation. I have a cousin that is hyphenated and she has her own business... it works for her and her hubby.
