Eh, I'm no authority on comedy. I do know the intended purpose of that thread title and of the examples you've used are comedic. Are people outside of the coli expected to "get it"? I don't think that would be a fair expectation, but that wasn't the anchor in my post. If a thread like that is cause for outrage, then even if we're unable to cross verify people's reactions to each instance, you'd still expect a base level of consistency in which an app like this "Tea" one raises eyebrows.

in the thread in question brehs largely post pictures available on public social media profiles, usually by means of embedding. no personal information, no ducktales about previous romantic thrusts etc - just "here's an attractive woman". Could the thread be re-titled with a less abrasive title? Sure, but spaces like the coli, LSA, twitter will always develop exaggerated animated cultures (at least that's what I've observed thus far)

this Tea app does a lot more than that seemingly - and a lot of people seemed to be OK with it, which, in my opinion, is not conducive of anything good

We, collectively as men, cannot claim to be against the infantilization of women when there are those posting here daily that seek to do the exact same to us...in that we are meant to be kept at a developmental stage mentally where women are objects, bytches and hoes, and those are the mental muscles being exercised daily. (If you think I'm exaggerating, ask the BGOL vets around here. There are usernames that have been posting a certain kind of content for 20+ years now, easy, who never post anything BUT that kind of content. They log in, reinforce addictions, and log out.) The white woman worship, the celebrity worship, the gender warring, all of that plays their part. And at some point you have to acknowledge the issue, how do you go from consuming that content all the time, with the attendant mental conditioning, and then effectively relate to women on any level - acquaintance, work colleague, friendship, romantic, marriage - and not have that conditioning taint all of it? Where is the balance?

No, this isn't some authoritarian stance on what's funny. It's a necessary perspective everyone has to face whatever age you are: when do you let the short-term-middle-school giggles go for the long term benefit of having to engage with the very people you're objectifying? Especially in a space that's wide open to the entire internet, with kids reading the same content who aren't "in on the joke", and all that entails...and come to think it's normal?


People will have their fun, that's a given. Just be aware that everything cannot be about the lulz. Private things are kept private for a reason. This is no different.

That’s interesting. What are some of the tools you use to do this? I use to do marketing planning and internet ad buying back in the 00’s before social media took over and was using tools like Alexa SEO and RSS feeds to search terms.
