Working a job you don’t like for money vs a job you like for a little less?

Meh job or job you like?

I've turned down a little more money last year.

Things are good and I'm on cruise control.

Can't roll the dice no more :hubie:

Stop making you're jobs your life and this isn't a problem.

I absolutely hate most of the people I work for and the company is annoying. But guess what? It's just something I do for money to fund my life.

Depends. If I had to leave NY, it would only be to go to LA or Chicago for said career.
Yea see shyt changes real quick :whew: I been working all across the country for almost a decade now so I've been on both sides of the fence

For me it just comes down to the hours, the job I enjoy doing usually runs 12+ hour days, pays a ton, but you just miss out on a ton of life unless you just decide to be unemployed for a few months, one extreme or the other

Other jobs I took paid less and were regular 9-5 hours, so I had free time to live a life, but work was so frustrating(I had to carry the team) I'd just be pissed off all day waiting for it to be over.

Spend 8 hours being pissed but having free time :hula: 12+ hours of fun but very little consistency in life outside of work.

shyt is hard to figure out

:dwillhuh: are you not understanding the question breh?

If you had a chance to do one of these things that you care about AS your job, what you're saying goes out the window, it'd be way harder to separate work from your life because it's something you already were into doing in your free time.

The question is would you do that job for less money (still livable wage) vs. a high paying joint you hate

It doesn't matter. Your job is just your job. Leave it at that. Always take more money.

Like $300

Currently a firefighter making $1600 every two weeks. Going back to HVAC which I liked and making $1300 every two weeks. With OT in HVAC I’ll be making more than $1300 though

Def go back to HVAC.

With that skill you could position yourself to own your own company in the future as well, if you want.

Happiness 100 percent. I’ve stated on here before I’m getting ready to quit my job soon. Only second time in my life I’ve ever been unhappy in a role. Definitely the first time since being a proper adult. The mental job that is does clocking in and hating every moment of the day just isn’t worth it anymore. Got a side business that I’m going to push harder with, some money to the side and just picked up a freelance gig I can do on my own time. So by summer/fallish I’m telling them kick rocks.

This is the way.

Jobs suck.

Which is why they pay you to come.

Things that are fun, you have to pay to get in.

The more money part is about your future. If you make 20% more during your working years, that can compound to a vast difference in your savings, investments and retirement.

The more money they offer is because the job is that much more challenging
