Effectively killed any and all direction the character had along with actual progress. Editors/Writers were so thirsty for Peter to be a fukking loser again, they pretty much retcon literally every single piece of character development Peter had in the main continuity.
Its crazy too because Back in Black was literally right before this and was executed so beautifully.
