I would but I would be realistic about the options and what it takes

If you can get a niche for yourself as a local, organic type than it could be good. Otherwise you need to know that it ain't just plowing, planting and harvesting. Knowing what to grow, getting credit for seed, fertilizer, equipment etc, and most of all knowing what market you can sell to at what price is crucial. Farmers have to be business people in modern times.

To be honest, if my family ever moved to Africa I would start a farm there but here I might be more interested in aquaculture.

Rural farming sounds good but in the aggregate it's not very accessible to black people, especially productive farmland. I'm thinking particularly here in California. I work for a company that runs urbans farms around LA and resells the product to folks in the form of 1 or 2lb boxes of veggies & fruit. EBT and such are accepted and we run almost totally on word of mouth.
