Let's say that everyone was provided or could easily obtain the food, shelter, and medical care they needed to live, and let's also say that there would still be opportunities to obtain greater wealth if an individual put forth the effort, would it matter that 1% of the population held the majority of the wealth?

Does someone else being a billionaire matter if you have your basic needs met?

Not as much.

It would still matter, because billionaires are exploiting the labor of the working classes, quite literally taking a portion of the value of their labor for themselves.

But things would be vastly easier if a proper social structure cut down on the disparities between the "haves" and the "have nots."

yes it would matter

life is shyt and one should be able to enjoy it outside of having their basic needs filled.

what good is having food, shelter, and medical if you cant actually enjoy the taste of the food you eat, your health or the activities you do at (and outside of ) home?

If you got the food you liked, the house you wanted, and medical services you needed, I don't think people would care if Bezos was worth 5 Trillion dollars.

I guess "need" can be interpreted in different ways but I should clarify that in my mind, I wasn't thinking about people getting the bare minimum.

What if it was instead in abundance and everyone got what they wanted?
