Would it be fair to say Pop Smoke was more important to NYC rap than Big L?

big L died in an era with lots of competition. pop was one of the few nationally relevant male NYers of his time. pop is more important due to scarcity.

I beg to differ.:patrice:

because there definitely was Not a shortage of talent coming out that post bobby shmurda brooklyn drill scene.

It might not compare to big L era in the 1990s but it seemed like there was a new rapper coming outta that scene every month.

yes, look at the remnants of his sound (Dusty Locane, Fivio Foreign, Sheff G, Sleepy Hallow). NYC drill is completely different now that Pop is gone, and it'll take time for the next talent to bring it back to level he was approaching.

Pop Smoke but I still think he was vastly overrated even then. Shame he never got the chance to release a proper album, cause I feel like by his 3rd or 4th release, he would’ve really developed into somebody legit.
