I hate to sound like a hippy but this is when hip-hop starts to lose something for me. When you beefin' with someone and all you gotta do is say "I got more money than you", and the whole world declares you the winner of the beef, somethin' wrong. Disagree. His celebrity status skyrocketed during that time, but on pure hip-hop shyt, his status is based on his pre-"retirement" work. I consider him to be top 5, and it's not because of the mostly mediocre shyt he's released after TBA.

I never really listened to much Jay besides major singles, RD and MCHG. He seems to have occasional strong lyrical points, but from what I've listened to, they're somewhat few and far between.
