Would somebody please remind me that baseball is dying? I'm afraid I might forget.

Baseball aint going anywhere....the whole baseball is dying thing is one of the sillier movements on the coli. If anything I see baseball gaining even more popularity as more black QB's start coming into the NFL and taking over :yeshrug:
This site is like a bubble sometimes, especially when it comes to baseball. Even though not as many people here care for baseball as football or basketball, it is still popular offline. It's hard for me to go somewhere around here and not find someone bleeding orange-and-black or green-and-gold.

Baseball will always have it's niche markets (California, New York, Chicago, St.Louis, Boston) but outside of those markets, Baseball has lost cultural relevance. It still does good numbers attendance wise because it's a cheap fun night out with good weather so people go for that (as opposed to the game itself) but let's check the National Ratings for Baseball because that tells the REAL story

so many idiots in this thread. As long as the following teams exist:

Yankees
Cubs
Dodgers
Red Sox
Cardinals

baseball ain't going nowhere. You dudes really don't understand the national following these 5 teams have above all else. Considering they hit every major region of the country (both coasts and the midwest, plus college baseball is huge in the south)...

I think baseball "issue" with young people has more to with the fact that young people don't watch nationally televised games and I think its mostly due to the lack of marketing in the sport. But there's plenty of young people at the stadium and their local tv ratings are mad high and they got the highest selling mobile sports app. Young people are watching their just not watching many games outside of their own team

SMH other than the superbowl everything on television has declined due to more programming options. Thats why even though total numbers are down the baseball (unless its going up against football) the baseball playoffs usually win the night when it comes to ratings cuz all ratings are lower than what they used to be. Look at the this listhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_most_watched_television_broadcasts

If you look at the top rated tv show on network tv, the total number of viewers for the top shows has declined
