Would the Chronic 2001 even be what it was without Scott Storch and Mel-Man?

Breh, Storch had hits after Dre. Some really dope shyt and alot of them were commercially successful. Check out his catalog.

yeah he had hits, so what? were any of his beats on the level of Still DRE? do any of his beats resonate like that one still does? he played keys in The Roots too, but no one is putting him up as the mastermind behind The Roots songs between Do You Want More and Illadelph Halflife

But none of the beats were anywhere near the level of anytning on 2001

lets be real here breh
scott storch has more #1 hits than dr dre

from what I understand, for the 2001 sessions, dre had instrumentalists like storch do jam sessions and dre isolated riffs and melodies that he liked.

i think without hitman/storch 2001 would sound great sonically but would be missing those key melodies.

The question is...where is anything Dre created after Storch as good as Still DRE? Of course Dre's contribution played a big part in the sound of that album but nikkas acting like all Dre had to do was get any ol' piano player and beatmaker is fukking stupid. Storch has alot of beats that still knock today after 2001. More hits than Dre after 2001 also. Don't downplay his part in that album.

He was arguably the biggest producer in hip hop for a short period of time

Yea, arguably. Storch really is a talented dude. That cocaine and partying fukked him up but he's been back behind the boards and making quality stuff recently.

:heh:

Yea, like it's that easy. Storch himself is a very uniquely talented dude. You not JUST finding another piano player and beatmaker.
But dont act like he couldnt find a suitable musician and beat programmer..

Scott Storch wasnt doing anything so phenomenal on the Chronic that a professionally trained player couldnt do..

And beatmaker...Dre runs through those..:manny:

Dre did in fact find another piano player. Mark Batson is also dope on the keys. Dre and Mark Batson haven't created a "Still Dre", but I think that's largely due to chemistry. Dre and Storch were in a zone.

We can say the same thing about Dre. He didn't produce another album on that level :yeshrug:

After 2001, I can even say that Storch had a better run than Dre during the same period.

But Dre already had 10-15 years of producing multiple classic albums with huge movements behind them. Did Storch ever make ONE classic album?
