would you choose a nice big house over disposable income?

I have a cousin that just bought a house. shyt is so expensive that they won't have any disposable income for the foreseeable future. Can't take any days off from work. Can't lose their job or they'll lose their house. Can't go on vacations. No going out to the movies or out to eat.

I rather live in a decent apartment and not live check to check and be able to do shyt and live life at least a little.

No. I can dig dealing with a small plot of land, or maybe even an apartment (depends) for a while.
That disposable income would be spent on travel. Been to Wisconsin, Indiana, and Washington, DC. There is tons
more to see on this planet before blowing cash and being trapped in one place.

I would rather have the disposable income. I can use that money for investments and stack and later on get a nice home and still have disposable income. Like just hold off and live below your means for a while like a year or 2 and make sure that everything is good. Get some investments and hopefully they grow and you can be eating real good later on.

Having all of your income tied up into one property or investment isn't a wise move. When I buy a house, I will need to be able to pay the mortgage with a little to spare. I could forego foreign holidays for a couple years but if I can't afford to go to the cinemas, that mortgage is too high up on my neck.

Disposable income. I basically only need a 1 bedroom apartment to be happy. I would like a big house eventually, but unless i'm rich that shyts overkill. And buying a house I couldn't afford would just put me under stress. I like to have a lot of leeway when it comes to my budget

the thing that scares me the most about buying a house is that you could become a slave to it. it's like you're trapped. you lose part of your freedom. it even creates stress at your job cause you become scared of losing it. sure it's an investment but what if you need to sell fast and it's a buyer's market?

i used to think renting is a sucker move if you can afford to buy but i'm starting to understand that it all depends on your circumstances and lifestyle. sometimes buying makes sense and sometimes renting makes sense.

Duuuuuvaaaaal!!
I just bought a nice sized lot myself. I may not be able to take any month long trips to Europe right now, but I'm comfortable to spend freely and not get too deep into my disposable income. So I guess I made sure to have both. I also made sure to have as many luxuries as possible included on my property so I rarely need to leave it. Home theater, home office, pool, jacuzzi, outside kitchen, gym room, organic landscaping and bar in the back yard for a private outside getaway. :blessed:
