I got this from Baller Alert on instagram. Some of the responses shocked me. Here it is:

“I needed some advice and hoping someone out there can help. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I love my boyfriend. We’re living together and things are great. But, as we're living together, I've noticed that he's terrible with his finances, has bad credit, and is 15k + in debt. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Money isn't everything, but I also don't want to live the rest of our lives carrying our finances. I am considering breaking up with him. Am I wrong?”

Summary
  • bf & gf are living together
  • bf is bad with money
  • has bad credit
  • 15K+ in debt
My question is to men and women. Would you leave or stay?
⠀⠀⠀

My advice for her would be to leave but...they are living together so its harder to pack and move out. But if he was trying to work on getting himself together & if he was the one.. I would stay....but if he wasn't I would leave.

I actually broke up with someone because he didnt have his self together, didnt want to deal with the hard relationship stuff & he wasn't 'the one'. He wanted kids & of his own. But didnt want to go to school, just wanted to work a minimum wage job. We had a disagreement one time & he didnt take it seriously until I had to scream at him. He wanted to do the fun relationship stuff but didnt want to have real discussions. He wanted kids but wouldnt even talk with me about how he wants to raise them, whats his medical history, etc. I think he just wanted a baby because it would give him a place to stay. I could see he would be no help if we had a kid together.

Ummm geez I would at least talk to them about it. I mean you just gonna leave?

Why not just have one person handle the bills? That is what happens in most relationships.

I swear people want everything ready made.

You the same person who ran off from your seed. You opinion holds no weight.

What makes you even dumber is that I have my own business and my credit is so good I didn't have to put a dime down on my new 20k car.

Please go kill yourself you deadbeat cheating degenerate.

i think as black people (assuming these are african americans) we need to understand that we exist in the richest country on the planet and control 1 percent of the wealth.
the majority of us are poor working class people (with credit masking the reality of us being poor), aspiring to be middle class with no access to any means of production or generational wealth.

with that being said, if you understand these things, have had discussions with your partner about what you are both going to do to combat said "price of being black", and your partner still isn't getting it, behaving recklessly with funds then yea, you may have to bush them.

Only 15 k in debt...that's good compared to others unless he's not working and continuing to add more without paying some off

You know there's people with college loan debt, mortgage, car notes that's well beyond that 15k.

When she said bills she probably meant budget. As in the other person handles the allocating of funds if the other one is bad with money.
