Poland's president has signed a new law introducing zero personal income tax (PIT) for parents raising at least two children, a reform which aims to support families, increase household income and boost economic activity.

The bill, presented by Karol Nawrocki in August, removes the income tax obligation on families earning up to 140,000* zloty (€32,973) a year.

*The average yearly salary in Poland is around 91,000 PLN, which is approximately $23,023 USD as of August 2024

I think this would translate to about 90K US for a family of 4, no taxes.

The parliament is left leaning for now (basically a bunch of left leaning parties). The only reason I know anything about them is because I have to manage a dev team out there. I know , random lol.

PiS is basically their maga faction

And what's that immigrant population looking like?

They're like 90+% polish. You'll see the most in Warsaw but they're like students from Africa. Most of their ire seems to be directed at Ukrainian refugees. There's an everlasting beef between Ukrainians and poles that I'm ignorant of tbh. But they hate Russia even more for obvious reasons.

My sample size is small, but the devs I talk to over there support ukraine fukking up Russia but also want ukranians to go home.

Compared to the other former Warsaw pact states (Ukraine, Bulgaria, Belarus, Romania, Russia, etc..) they kinda are. Of course joining the EU helped along with joining NATO since they could rebuild their economy without being disrupted by a Russian invasion.

Only a reunified Germany had a better come up.
