yes, these are Italian mastiffs not terriers. if you do your homework and go with the right breeder there actually one of the best breeds to have around kids

A dog is part of a pack and as long as you raise/train a dog the way you're supposed to,they will protect that child with more ferocity than they would an adult of the same family.
