Was thinking about this again with all the animal threads at the moment.
I really do suspect they have their own version of a life in their head because they floss, beef and mourn like we do plus they can sense a hell of a lot more than we can. Anyone with a pet can attest because loads of folks I knew with dogs commented on how they knew when their owner was bending the corner on their street or how their cat actually came near them and showed affection when they were sick and other related blips that hint of a level of awareness.
Same with a guy who was killed as his dogs nearly starved to death afterwards as they just stopped eating. Granted it could be seen as simple because he mainly fed them but they seemed real depressed for ages and were totally listeless so it makes you think, doesn't it?
