Would you live in the Hood, if it allows you to save 1500$ to $2,000 a month?

I wouldn’t but maybe that’s because I did that most my life especially while in Detroit. The amount of stress if worrying if I forgot to lock the door or if someone is lurking around the house is not worth it. I don’t know how bad it is today but back in the 90s, I remember kids would get snatched out in my hood and raped. There was always a risk of something happening no matter what time of day.

Living in a good area doesn’t have to be all that expensive. It would be better to get your money up and move somewhere that you have peace of mind. I stay in a really affluent suburb outside of Houston and I’m still about to save 3k a month without doing overtime. I’m about to get back on the overtime and I should be about to save at least 6k a month.

Plus I forgot to mention but I pay a few hundred more per month in rent but my car and motorcycle insurance is lower. It almost balances out.

My old apartment I lived in back in 2006 on Bissonet and Kirkwood was going for $1100 a month:childplease:
You are not saving any money anywhere unless you have a spouse, family or roommates
And even still you are paying for gas, food, health, insurance
Those days are gone saving any money unless you are at least making 200k by yourself and that’s after taxes
The only way you are saving is moving to a state in the Midwest or close to it but you will quickly find out they taxin too because of white flight and other states:francis:

Not O'Block or New Orleans East hood. Let just say you inherited a house in the hood you grew up in. So you know quite a few people there. A small clean, decent home on decent street, but a block or away there are shootings and a murder or two a year within a few blocks. You see crackheads, goons and drunks walking pass daily, but for most part if you mind your business no one bothers you.

So you're saying I gotta do a 2.5 - 3 year bid in the hood while guaranteeing that at the end of that term I've saved up enough money for a down payment on a house in a better area?

Like my momma always says, "You have to stoop to conquer." You'd be an idiot not to take that deal. :rudy:
