Would you rather pay $500 for 10yrs or $400 for 4yrs?

And thats 4yrs IF YOU LUCKY. To all my rec roomers who had the YLOD. If that is you, then you know how long your PS3 which they bragged about being reliable and how the gen would last 10yrs (its been 7)
So whats good with PS4? I don't know, but I do know I would know if there was something TO know (Tru Story)

This is what that $500 gets you on the greener side...

How the Xbox One Is Designed To Be Left Switched on for 10 Years

There’s a reason Xbox One comes in that whopping great 1980s VCR style case, and it’s not because some one in authority at Microsoft went mad. It’s for cooling, to help keep it quiet and reliable—and so you can leave it switched on constantly for the next ten years.

According to Digital Foundry, which spoke to an unnamed Microsoft staff member, the final console ought to be entirely silent while in standby mode and when running media and dashboard applications, with the cooling fans only kicking in when the AMD core is being seriously taxed by multiple oil barrels and crates exploding as players make their way through whatever war-based FPS takes their fancy.

The idea is to Make Xbox One a games machine that’s as robust as your digital TV box, one that’s also quiet enough — and quick to boot from a saved memory state — that you’d never really want to turn it off at the wall. Not unless you have some sort of OCD fear about things catching fire while you sleep. [Digital Foundry]

The hdd or bluray drive will fail far before 10 years in either console. Those are the main points of failure...

the switch to mostly digital content and loading things from the console itself and the cloud will dramatically cut down on one's use of disc tray, therefore increasing the lifetime of it

Besides, your thought process is primitive friend. Remember that "cloud" you guys like to make fun of?
No need to use the blu-ray drive when games stream from the cloud :win:
HDD? We got unlimited space in the cloud, once again :win:
I got an external HDD that is 10yrs old and works, I'm sure one made in 2013 can handle it
Cable box's have HDD's in them, they rarely breakdown. Do I detect a hint of :uFURIOUS:? :leon:

Playstation consoles always have more shelf life than its competitors. This is a fact.
:usure:

N64 >>> PS1
Xbox >>> PS2
Even the Xbox Slims >>> PS3 Slims because PS3 slims breakdown left and right
I know this because there are so many threads posted about it HERE :heh:
Not saying its at an alarming rate, but more common than xbox slims breaking down. XBslims even have a shut off function if it begins to overheat

So your wrong

Microsoft would be fools if they actually made a durable system this time.

A HUGE chunk of 360 sales this gen came from Xbots having to buy 2, 3, 4, 5 replacement systems after them red rings

MS would be losing a lot of money
