- "I asked Kobe to be in the movie first. He said he appreciated he thought of him, but summer time he's working"
- "I get it because with the role, you really had to give up your whole summer"
- "So then I asked Allen Iverson, he didn't even want to audition for the role, he just wanted to play"
- "When Iverson said no, all I could think about was REHEARSAL!!! REHEARSAL!!! You want me to be in REHEARSAL!"

:laff: :russ: :dead:

Honestly, I'm happy Ray Allen got the part anyway, it fit him the most

This is sad because everyone misquotes him to this day. He literally cleared it up and people still make jokes. His friend was murdered and they asked him about practice and he was pretty much saying "practice? You wanna talk about practice?" The context was that they lost a game and that he was playing after his friends death. He was pretty much appalled that they would ask him about practice instead of being sympathetic that his friend died

Yeah I hate how people try to use the quote as a reason why he never won a ring. One of the reasons sports media is so trash.

I never heard that. I watched the actual press conference he didn't mention that then. Him saying "Not a game....not a game" is what gives it the context we all have rolled with the last quarter century :flabbynsick: . I cant say what you are saying is wrong but I can say if thats the case he did a horrible job communicating.

Kobe woulda been perfect. Coulda just played himself. Teenage/early 20s Kobe was pure arrogance :mjlol:. Woulda given you that young HS phenom energy for sure.

Ray Allen was known for his meticulous, consistent work. I doubt he would go a whole summer without working on his game. Mike had a court built and top players come in for Space Jam. Maybe Spike couldnt accommodate that :manny:

I didn't know this either

It's no wonder a lot of players from the old days hated the media before social media allowed them to speak to the public without a middleman.
