It's official.
According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, WWE will host its flagship pay-per-view in New Orleans next year:
Multiple sources with direct knowledge tell us WWE officials will soon announce that WrestleMania is returning to New Orleans in 2018.
The Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans played host to WrestleMania 30 in 2014, a show highlighted by Daniel Bryan defeating Triple H, Batista and Randy Orton in the same night to capture the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. WrestleMania 30 ranks as one of the best 'Manias in recent memory and shattered a number of records, including becoming the "highest grossing entertainment event" in the history of the Superdome.
And WWE is apparently looking to top that in 2018.
New Orleans is, of course, an incredibly popular tourist destination, and according to NOLA.com, the city is hoping to attract 13.7 million tourists by 2018, something that WWE bringing WrestleMania 34 to town would certainly help the "Crescent City" accomplish.
Monday Night Raw will emanate from New Orleans on January 9, and it was recently revealed that both Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker would be appearing on the show. According to F4WOnline.com's Dave Meltzer, "the appearance is expected to build to something for the Royal Rumble pay-per-view on January 29th."
