The Undertaker gimmick only worked because of Mascara Mark and his dedication to kayfabe. The only other person who may of made it worked, was Glen Jacobs. But then again Kane was like his 3rd gimmick in the 3 years, so he had to get it right, otherwise, he would of ended up as WWF version of Ed Leslie.

The Taker gimmick probably had a life span of maybe 26 months at most, when it was created. But ended up lasting 26 years.
