I just purchased a late model 2011-2012 macbook refurbished , everything is in lovely working order even the batter is decent but..ITS SLOW AF...even on the BOOT UP it's slower than ever, and barely has any stock software, shyt is a complete turn off because I was going to use it for my maschine production but now I'm like :hhh::picard::scust:

I'm no computer savvy guy but what can I do to enhance my experience, because it's subpar AF. I spent too much money

I'll be in best buy in the morning lol it's sad because I bought one for my wife's mac but hers is a later air type so it doesn't work for hers, then I bought a 250 gig one for my regular laptop, but I didn't know you had to clone your fukn software..and I don't even know where to start with that. hopefully this time seeing as this will be on a device specifically made for it the installation will be easier

If you're cloning a Mac I recommend carbon copy cloner. Easy, will save a perfect clone image of your old drive and put it on your ssd.

I got a 2013 iMac 27" as a desktop. Has the 1 tb internal spinner. I bought a 512 gb ssd as a boot drive through thunderbolt. Sata 3 ssd I get about 450mbps speed read/write. MAkes a world of difference. Cold boots in about 15 seconds.

so it would be best of me to buy a 8 gig usb drive, download OS(insert name) from the app store. and then just drag and drop the downloaded OS to the usb drive?

If you wanna do a fresh install yeah you could do that. I thought you wanted a clone of what you got on there now. If you do:

Use CCC (free trial) to clone your drive to another drive. Could be a USB drive it don't matter. Get a usb3 cuz speed is faster.

Swap out your hdd with the ssd. Boot from the USB drive. Use CCC to put the disk image onto the new ssd. Then designate the ssd as the startup disk. Restart.

Easy

nah I could care less what I have on there now, just a bunch of extra shyt dude who modified put on it...but one piece of software I did see was what you mentioned the carbon clone copier. so I might just use that. it does sound easier....insert usb...run clone...swap hdd..insert sdd...use usb to boot up the new ssd with whatever OS is on the usb drive

Yeah CCC is imo the best Mac backup, better than time machine. I use bootcamp on my iMac I use winclone for those backups.

But yeah switch out that hdd with a nice ssd and you're talking like night and day difference.

SSD is pretty much a requirement for a Mac these days. I think the only systems they ship with a hard drive these days are the low end iMacs and the Mac Mini (which is about to be swapped for an SSD I am sure)
