UPDATE: As noted late last night here on the website, with Carlos Colon heading into the WWE Hall of Fame, there has been speculation that WWE would be buying the World Wrestling Council's video library to integrate it into their own WWE Network, DVDs and more.

In an update on this, Colon was interviewed a few days ago by "Primera Hora," and when the topic of the library being seen on the WWE Network was discussed, Colon noted that his family is "seriously considering the idea of selling footage."
ORIGINAL: As seen on last week's WWE SmackDown broadcast, WWE announced that Carlos Colon would be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2014. The induction apparently has to do with WWE's expansion of their Network.

As we've been reporting, WWE is planning to expand the Network internationally early next year and they are in need of some Spanish language programming. With that being said, we're told they are in the process of purchasing the World Wrestling Council (WWC) tape collection from Puerto Rico.

According to sources, WWC feels that they can make a lot of money by selling their tape collection and WWE is definitely interested. The company was close to "going under" several years ago but refused to sell the tape library. The induction of Colon is said to be part of the deal for WWE to get the WWC library.

We'll keep you posted as we hear more.

What is this I hear of Carlos Colon being an accessory to a murder tho? :lupe:

Bruiser Brody was stabbed and killed at a wwc event in the locker room. Jose Gonzalez (invader #1) and carlos colon are boys so he used some of his power and influence to get him acquitted. There were some witnesses that cooperated with the law but later refuse to testify (Tony Atlas and Zeb Colter)

Is the WWC's library even worth buying?I don't think i've ever heard of it.

Eh. It's famous for a lot of bloody brawls during the '80s featuring Bruiser Brody, Carlos Colon, Abdullah the Butcher, etc. Kind of like a Puerto Rican ECW, but even shadier. I know they brought in dudes like Flair and Dory Funk Jr though as well.

They are still around today. I wonder if the deal would give them access to new shows.

According to Zed, there was nothing they could've done about it.

Zeb Colter (Dutch Mantell) said:
"I was depressed when I left PR and even more so when I got back to Birmingham. If you've ever been to Birmingham, you'd know what I mean. I told my wife in detail everything that had happened. She told me that nothing would be done to Jose Gonzalez. I got mad at her. How could something not be done? I told her to wait and see. I waited, and I saw that she was right. I got two separate subpoenas for the trial. The first trial date was postponed. The second trial was scheduled for January 23-26, 1989. I still have my subpoena. It was issued 1\3\89 but according to the post date was not mailed until 1\13\89. That meant that it laid on somebody's desk for a full 10 days. Remember the trial was to start on January 23rd? I received the subpoena on January 24th. I had already heard the verdict by the time I opened the subpoena. I never heard from the detectives again, not even to this day."
