Im sure Robert Downey and Jon Favreau had more to do with making ironman relevant in modern society. It was the second highest-grossing film of 2008 and I doubt the reason folks went to the theaters to see it is because they picked up a copy of Supreme Clientele

Iron man wasn't relevant as a comic for a long time and behind other marvel franchises. There's a reason they let Ghostface rock. He gave them a lot of clout and relevancy BEFORE the movies.
Myself and many other folks only know of Iron Man thru Ghostface. I was into comics but that was never on my radar. The studio knee this enough to film a cameo for Ghostface in the movie eventhough it didn't make the cut.
