You should have traded in your old 360 to new Slim (When new 360 Slim came out at the time) cause the price will drop $150 but too late for you.

my xbox got the rings about 1 year after i bought it , send it to M$ they sent it back within 2 weeks

about 6 months later got it again and have got it 2 times since and i found the best thing to do is unplug everything right away and wrap it in two thick towels for like 20min , i have done it all 3 times and its worked like charm
