Yeah I initially subbed because I wanted to play Starfield on my steam deck. It has it's uses but using it as your only gaming option is limited. You should be wanting to play everything or at the very least have the option to do so.

Way too late, but they can still offer a service to entice people to sub to service. Their store needs to improve and goal on PC is to take some shares from steam. A person won't abandon Steam because that's where their library is. However, if they're able to get steam users to have a recurring gamepass sub it will open doors to spend on Microsoft store. Take COD for example if they're playing it through windows store, then they might purchase microtransactions on windows store in stead of steam. Also, if they have a sub they might buy the gamepass edition of games to play early.
