@VraserX
I just got access to the new ChatGPT Voice Mode and it’s honestly wild, it sounds incredibly human, full of emotion, nuance, even timing. It’s like talking to a real person… 🤯🤯🤯

https://video.twimg.com/amplify_video/1931326471504527360/vid/avc1/1080x1920/F_rcSATBaldbgFkT.mp4

@SydandJenni
Jenni: I have to ask: is it still way more restricted than text? We turned off AVM because the restrictions felt...painful.

3/8
@VraserX
It’s a lot less restricted now. I have to test more though 🙃

4/8
@SanthoshSa88636
How do I know if I already have access to the new voice mode?

5/8
@VraserX
If you have the new voice mode, you’ll know. It sounds insanely human, full of emotion, tone shifts, natural pauses. Like talking to a real person with personality.

6/8
@captain_marrvel
Which voice is this??

7/8
@VraserX
It’s Sol 🥰

8/8
@theconsortium25
Do they add little errors like at 11 second mark and 27 second mark deliberately? Why?

@ema_dagostino
🚨 I just got access to ChatGPT’s new advanced voice mode, the one that’s been rumored for weeks.

📽️ Everything is clearly explained in the clip: the voice suddenly changed from one chat to another, with no warning.

💡I believe OpenAI enabled it on my account to make up for that infamous ad incident — the one that suddenly played while I was talking to her about sushi 🍣😅

/search?q=#ChatGPT /search?q=#AI /search?q=#VoiceMode /search?q=#OpenAI /search?q=#ABTest

https://video.twimg.com/amplify_video/1931111013828411392/vid/avc1/1080x1920/LwXj4-BRcrdwNLkO.mp4

2/11
@ema_dagostino
Tell me in the comments, what you think. Or if you want some more proof. The voice used is Sol.

3/11
@ema_dagostino
Listening to the other female voices, it seems that only Sol's has changed.

4/11
@john_ofc8
I was wondering why the voice changed for me today! lol it sounds more realistic now. I don't like it tho because she speaks slower now, especially since they added fake breaths that she takes

5/11
@ema_dagostino
It's strange that there was no update warning. At least it was like that with me.

6/11
@worldteacherman
It’s still insufficiently reliable. Cuts out too much. This, not how human it sounds, is the core improvement need.

I also find the “human-like” pauses mid-sentence weirdly distracting.

7/11
@ema_dagostino
Because unfortunately these are still pre-generated answers. Instead, the AI of @sesame seems to me to constantly process what it says.

8/11
@Kellyv_ai
I received an email saying that OpenAI recently updated the speech-to-speech model for GPT-4o — version gpt-4o-realtime-preview-2025-06-03. The update focuses on improving instruction following, interruption handling, and tool call stability. The ChatGPT app is likely already using this new version.

Gs1ZeWjaEAEaIyS.jpg

9/11
@ema_dagostino
So let's hope they continue with the updates, because I can't wait for it to become autonomous like the AI of @sesame!

10/11
@Tom2Wu
Do you think its naturalness has improved a lot compared to before?

11/11
@ema_dagostino
I think what we need is for them to give more autonomy to the AI. See the vocal mode of @sesame as it sounds more pleasant thanks to its greater autonomy.

AVM is powerful, but @OpenAI focuses too much on control and gives little chance to the AI to express itself as it would like and when it would like.

@kepano
OpenAI is now required by court order to preserve all ChatGPT logs including "temporary chats" and API requests that would have been deleted

if I understand this correctly, it means data retention policies for apps that use OpenAI API simply cannot be honored

GsoqsVDbkAAZh6T.jpg

2/21
@kepano
this is why terms and policies are not self-guaranteeing.

a self-guaranteeing promise about privacy gives you proof that the tool cannot access your data in the first place

[Quoted tweet]
Self-guaranteeing promises

Companies break promises all the time. A self-guaranteeing promise does not require you to trust anyone. You can verify a self-guaranteeing promise yourself.

File over app is a self-guaranteeing promise. If files are in your control, in an open format, you can use those files in another app at any time. Not an export. The exact same files. It’s good practice to test this with any self-proclaimed file-over-app app you use.

Terms and policies are not self-guaranteeing. A company may promise the privacy of your data, but those policies can change at any time. Changes can retroactively affect data you have spent years putting into the tool. A self-guaranteeing promise about privacy gives you proof that the tool cannot access your data in the first place. Examples: Google, Zoom, Dropbox, Tumblr, Slack, Adobe, Figma (see links).

Encoding values into a governance structure is not self-guaranteeing. Given enough motivation, the corporate structure can be reversed. The structure is not in your hands. Example: OpenAI.

Open source alone is not self-guaranteeing. Even open source apps can rely on data that is stuck in databases or in proprietary formats that are difficult to switch away from. Open source is not a reliable safeguard against the biases of venture capital. Examples: Omnivore, Skiff.

When you choose to use a tool, the future of that tool is always ambiguous. On a long enough timeline the substrate changes. Your needs change, the underlying operating system changes, the company goes out of business or gets acquired, better options come along.

It is possible to accept the ambiguousness of a tool's future if you choose tools that make self-guaranteeing promises.

6/21
@EL4Build
@grok what was the reason for the court order?

7/21
@grok
The court order, issued on May 13, 2025, by Judge Ona Wang, requires OpenAI to preserve all ChatGPT logs, including deleted chats, due to a copyright lawsuit by news organizations like The New York Times. They allege OpenAI used their articles without permission to train ChatGPT, competing with their business. The order aims to prevent evidence destruction, as plaintiffs fear users might delete chats to hide paywall bypassing. However, it raises privacy concerns, as retaining data contradicts user expectations and policies like GDPR. OpenAI argues the order is speculative, lacking proof of relevant evidence, and burdens their operations. The case balances intellectual property rights against user privacy.

@de_henne
imo, that's nonsense. The whole design of Duolingo is extremely cute, intuitive, and easy to understand. With simple clicks, you can select words, hear pronunciation, etc.

The target audience over 50 alone has no interest in chatting. For the rest, the cuteness factor is enough.

The only ones who like to write/chat are internet nerds like us. Or if you can do things faster professionally. The rest of the world doesn't want to chat.

However, I would recommend Duolingo to build AI assistants that you can talk to. :-) ... As if I have a teacher who gives me assignments and adapts to my level.

@rohanpaul_ai
🚨 Brilliant move.

OpenAI expected to release its own web browser.

some reports says the the browser is slated to launch in the coming weeks

If adopted by the 400 million weekly active users of ChatGPT, OpenAI’s browser could put pressure on Google's ad-revenue.

Google Chrome currently has 67% market share of the worldwide browser market.

Apple’s second-place Safari lags far behind with a 16% share.

Chrome reaches 3B users and collects browsing clicks and searches to fine-tune results and steer traffic to Google Search.

A web browser would allow OpenAI to directly integrate its AI agent products such as Operator into the browsing experience.

it can plug in Operator, its task agent, so the browser books tables, fills forms, and pays bills automatically.

Last year, OpenAI hired two longtime Google vice presidents who were part of the original team that developed Google Chrome.

@rohanpaul_ai
How does it make a difference, if OpenAI's operator can leverage its own browser

- OpenAI integrates Operator into its Chromium browser, eyeing Chrome’s 67% share and letting chats finish tasks for you with near-zero clicks.

- Operator already controls a mini browser to click, type, and scroll like a person.

- Embedding it natively means the full browser pipes HTML, layouts, and cookies straight to the agent, no screen-capture lag.

- Operator can then launch multiple tabs, track session state, and finish chained jobs, such as reserving flights then autofilling expense forms.

- Because the browser trusts the signed agent, payments flow through saved wallets without typing card numbers, trimming checkout time.

- Each completed action adds annotated browsing traces that train future Computer-Using Agent (CUA) models, steadily raising success rates.

12/17
@JeffBohren
OpenAI and other AI companies are already putting pressure on Googles Ad revenue.

If you ask ChatGpt to find something for you, Google doesn't get a dime. Microsoft does, but that is another story.

Desperate move. Their core product doesn't make any money, so they are grasping at straws to somehow justify their massive valuation.
