I came to visit my folks a couple weeks ago. I won't go into too much detail but basically they have to go up north to visit family. It's an 8 hour drive or they can fly. Both of em work so it's going to be a busy weekend whenever they go.
Moms is a teacher and pops is retired military and has a gov job now. They start arguing and she basically says she doesn't have many days to take off. (Mind you This nikka has a cushy job. He can leave to handle business during the day. Take off if he needs to. And watches soap operas while he works with some lil Latino dude up there. Only reason they don't watch ESPN on the clock is bc they don't want to pay for cable.) she says If he had a job making 100k then maybe she could afford to take more days off. I was eavesdropping but in my head I was like
damn she did him like that?
Then been married for 20 plus yrs. Pops isn't the best but he's been holding it down...he has 5 brothers. Between them they have 2 diff dads and they grew up in "typical" poverty. Welfare, food stamps, etc.
Now he has a job making about 60k plus a military pension, so shii
it was just weird to me my moms would say some Shii like that.
What can you do, when you've done all you can?
