for real for real... from both sides of the table, 3rd verses are wack... it's usually the worst verse... you either tired of the same subject by then (writing and listening) or you tired of the same beat....

Don't make me post 20+ Nas songs where he blacks out on the 3rd verse, people just got adhd this generation. I love more if it's delivered on the same caliber of the first two verses.

Personally as an artist, I won't ever do anything less than 3 minutes because as listener, I hate enjoying a dope beat and verse but only getting a minute or two of piff. Like, how am I supposed to really ride to this shyt?:stopitslime: If it's not a freestyle, I'll do a 2 verse structure (hook/verse/hook/verse/hook or some variation w/ intro) with really solid 16's, or three 12 bar verses if I wanna play around with different flows. I'll do three 16's if I'm really feeling the beat and got something to say. Usually that leaves me my song times anywhere between 3:12 and 5:10. I be tryna give people some meat on the bone (pause:dame:) so if they really like a song, they can vibe with that shyt for a nice length of time

But you already know what it is with these industry nikkas, a lot of these dudes just can't spit like that and wouldn't be able to put out a trillion songs a day if they really had to come up with that many bars every time they did a song :yeshrug:. They don't have that kind of depth

I think the most recent song where people noticed songs getting shorter and complaining was " Married to the Game " by Future. The turn up kids in their gmo weed, Xan, and lean induced trance even wanted the song to be longer.

Its like...when you hear a song with 3 verses these days, you almost notice its physically longer...its weird. Throws you off. Then you realize its only been like 4:30-5 minutes...which is what songs USED to be.

Industry adapted to the consumer. Average consumer with a phone full of music won't pay attention to 3 verses. Hell, even now I'll be in the whip with homies and they'll play a joint for the first verse they like then hit next lol.

yes the HOF all time legends can do this... most still do

i'm talking about the other 95% of rappers... you usually come in hard as fukk... gotta keep them listening... then the second verse continues on that thought.. normally by the third, you start with the throwaway lines and the "how should i finish this" talk and start throwing shyt against the wall

if you writing on a subject and write the first 2 effortlessly, or even just the first 24 bars or something.... once you start having to "think" hard and put it away and come back to it, and all that extra shyt.... you might as well just lay what you got and keep it dope instead of watering it down with extra bullshyt

new generation of "rappers" would prefer just having a 2 min long hook with no verse, we should feel lucky to get any bars in 2016

Never paid much attention to this new shyt. I noticed when 50 was doing it on the Curtis album though.
